Sayyiduna Uthman bin Abi al-As al-Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "At midnight the gates of the heavens are opened, and a caller calls out: Is there anyone supplicating, so that his supplication may be answered? Is there anyone asking, so that he may be given? Is there anyone in distress, so that his distress may be relieved? So at that time, whatever supplication any Muslim makes, Allah Almighty answers his supplication, except that the case of a fornicating woman who lives off the earnings of fornication, and of a man who extorts levies (the two of them), is different (that is, at that hour the supplication of these two is not answered)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
