Sayyidah Umm al-Fadl (may Allah be pleased with her) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) visited Sayyiduna al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), who was ill, and he wished for death. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abbas, O uncle of the Messenger of Allah, do not wish for death. For if you are a doer of good, (then with a long life) your good deeds will increase further, and that is better for you; and if you are a doer of evil, you will be given respite and return (that is, repent), and that is better for you. So do not wish for death at all."

Hadith Takhrij«اخرجه احمد فى المسند (339/6) ، أخرجه مسند أحمد برقم: 26333، وأخرجه المستدرك على الصحيحين برقم: 1294»
In one narration the words are: "If you are a doer of evil, you are given respite and you turn back from your evil, then that is better for you."
Ahmad, Abu Ya'la and al-Tabarani recorded it. The narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih, except for a woman named Hind bint al-Harith: if she is "al-Qurashiyyah" or "al-Firasiyyah", she has been used as evidence in the Sahih, and if she is "al-Khath'amiyyah", then I do not know her.

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not wish for death, for the terror of the place of emergence (perhaps meaning the life after death, or the Day of Resurrection) is severe; and it is part of good fortune that a servant's life is long and that Allah Almighty grants him (the ability to) turn back (that is, to repent)."
Ahmad and al-Bazzar recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We were sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He admonished us and spoke words that soften the hearts, and Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep and wept a great deal. He said: Would that I had died! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Sa'd, are you wishing for death in my presence?" This exchange took place three times. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Sa'd, if you were created for Paradise, then the longer your life and the better your deeds, the better it is for you." Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it, and al-Tabarani added these words in it: "And if you were created for the Fire, then it is an evil thing that you would hasten towards." Its chain contains Ali bin Yazid al-Alhani, who is da'if (weak).
