Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the servant seeks the pleasure of Allah Almighty and continues to be occupied in it, so Allah Almighty says to Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him): 'So-and-so, My servant, wishes to please Me. Behold, My mercy is upon him.' Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) says: 'May the mercy of Allah Almighty be upon so-and-so.' Then the angels who bear the Throne say the same, and the angels around them say the same, until the inhabitants of the seven heavens say the same; then it is sent down to the earth."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Maymun bin Ajlan, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Amr bin Malik al-Ru'asi (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he turned away from me. So I said: When one strives to please the Lord, He becomes pleased; so may you too be pleased with me. The narrator says: So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became pleased with me.
Al-Bazzar recorded it as a narration of Tariq from Amr bin Malik. Tariq is mentioned by Ibn Abi Hatim, who neither declared him trustworthy nor criticised him, and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
