Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(Allah Almighty says:) Do not place those servants of Mine who are 'arif (have recognition of Me), who affirm My oneness and who are sinners, in Paradise or in Hell, until I Myself place them according to My knowledge of them. And do not burden yourselves in this matter with what you have not been charged with, and do not hold people to account instead of their Lord."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Nufay' bin al-Harith, who is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the verses that make (Hell) binding were revealed, such as this verse: "Indeed, those who consume the wealth of orphans unjustly," or this verse: "Those who consume usury (riba)," or this verse: "And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell," Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: We used to testify that whoever committed any of these deeds would go to Hell, until this saying of Allah Almighty was revealed: "Indeed, Allah Almighty will not forgive that a partner be associated with Him, and besides that He will forgive whomever He wills." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: After that we refrained from testifying, and we became fearful for those people because of what Allah Almighty had made binding for them.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Abu Ismah, who is matruk (abandoned).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: We used to say about the one who kills a believer that when he dies he will go to Hell, and about the one who commits a major sin and then dies in that state, we used to say that he will go to Hell, until this verse was revealed: "Indeed, Allah Almighty will not forgive that a partner be associated with Him, and besides that He will forgive whomever He wills." The narrator says: So we did not declare anything binding for those people; we had hope for them and were also fearful for them.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Umar bin al-Mughirah, who is majhul (unknown), and the remaining narrators of this narration are the narrators of the Sahih. He also recorded it with another chain containing a narrator, Umar bin Buraydah al-Sayyari, whom I do not know; through him
this narration is reported from Muslim bin Khalid al-Zanji, who has been declared trustworthy, and the remaining narrators of this narration are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "A man was praying, and another man came to him and put his foot on his neck. The one who was under the foot said: 'By Allah, Allah Almighty will never forgive you.' Allah Almighty said: 'My servant has sworn about Me that I will not forgive My other servant? I have forgiven him.'"

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "Do not be hasty in praising people or in condemning them, for it may be that today you see something from your brother that pleases you, and tomorrow it may displease you; and it may also be that today something from him displeases you, and tomorrow it begins to please you. People fall into misjudgement, and it is on the Day of Resurrection that Allah Almighty will forgive sins. When the servant presents himself before Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty will be more merciful to His servant than a person's mother is, who spreads a bed for her child on the ground and then passes her hand over it to check, so that if there is a thorn in it, it pricks her hand before the child, and if there is a stinging creature, it stings her before the child."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain is munqati' (broken). (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Some hadiths on this will come later in the chapter on seeking forgiveness for those who commit major sins.
