Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man met a woman who had been a prostitute in the Era of Ignorance. The man began to flirt with her, until he stretched out his hand towards her. The woman said: Stop! For Allah Almighty has done away with polytheism. (Here the narrator Affan once reported these words:) The Era of Ignorance has gone, and Islam has come. The man turned away, his face struck a wall and he was injured. Then he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and told him about it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You are a servant for whom Allah Almighty has intended good. When Allah Almighty intends good for a servant, He hastens the punishment of his sin for him (that is, in this world), and when Allah Almighty intends evil for a servant, He holds back his sin against him until He repays him in full on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be like the mountain called 'Ayr."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it, but al-Tabarani reported these words: "We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was taking the pledge of allegiance beneath the tree, and I was holding the branches of the tree up from over his head. Meanwhile a man came whose face was streaming with blood. He said: O Messenger of Allah, I am ruined. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What has ruined you? He said: I came out of my house and came across a woman; my gaze stayed fixed on her until my face struck a wall and I received the injury that you see." The narrator says: After this the narrator mentioned the narration as before.
The narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih, and so is one of the two chains of al-Tabarani.

Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A woman passed by a man, and he kept staring at her. The man passed by a wall (that is, he collided with a wall) and his face was injured. When the man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), blood was streaming from his face. He said: O Messenger of Allah, I have committed such a deed. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Allah Almighty intends good for a servant, He hastens the punishment of his sin for him in this world, and when He intends otherwise for a servant, He grants him respite with regard to his sins until He repays him in full on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be like the mountain 'Ayr."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain is jayyid (good).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "One of the prophets complained in the court of his Lord, saying: 'O my Lord, among Your servants there is a servant who believes in You and does deeds of obedience to You, yet You keep the world away from him and put him to trial; while there is another servant of Yours who disbelieves in You and does deeds of disobedience to You, yet You keep trials away from him and set the world before him.' Allah Almighty revealed to that prophet: 'All the servants and all the lands (that is, the whole world) belong to Me, and everything glorifies Me, or declares My oneness, or declares My greatness. As for My believing servant, he has some sins, so I fold the world away from him and place trials before him, until, when he presents himself before Me, I will reward him for his good deeds. As for My disbelieving servant, he has some good deeds, so I fold trials away from him and set the world before him, until, when he presents himself before Me, I will repay him for his evil deeds.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin Khulayd al-Hanafi, who is da'if (weak).
