Al-Zuhri says: She is Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) bint al-Harith bin Hazn bin Bujayr bin al-Huzam bin Ru'aybah bin Abdullah bin Hilal bin Amir bin Sa'sa'ah. She is the lady who offered herself (in marriage) to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Sayyiduna Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I was in an expedition. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Go and bring Maymunah to me. I said: O Messenger of Allah! I am to go on an expedition. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you not like what I like? I said: Yes, I do! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then go and bring her. So I went and brought her.
Ahmad recorded it; its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except al-Hasan bin Ali bin Abi Rafi', and he is thiqah (trustworthy).

Yazid bin al-Asamm narrates: Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), fell seriously ill in Makkah, and at that time none of her nephews was with her. She said: Take me out of Makkah, for I will not die here; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told me that I will not die in Makkah. The narrator says: So they carried her to Sarif, to the tree where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had consummated his marriage with her, beneath which was the spot of the tent. The narrator says: She passed away there. When we placed her in her lahd (niche of the grave), I took my cloak and placed it under her cheek in the lahd, but Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) took that cloak and threw it away.
Abu Ya'la recorded it; its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Yazid bin al-Asamm narrates: I saw the Mother of the Believers (Umm al-Mu'minin) after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); she had shaved her head. I asked Yazid bin al-Asamm (about it), and he said: My view about her is that she wished to leave her appearance unadorned.

Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The sisters are believers." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) meant Sayyidah Maymunah bint al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with her), Sayyidah Umm al-Fadl bint al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with her), Sayyidah Salma, who was the wife of Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyidah Asma' bint Umays (may Allah be pleased with her).
At-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Ya'qub bin Muhammad al-Zuhri, whom a group declared thiqah (trustworthy) and others declared da'if (weak); the rest of the narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.
