Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and I went to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). We said: What do you say about what the Messenger of Allah left behind? He said: Because of our relationship with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we have more right than the people. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I said: Even regarding what is in Khaybar? Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Even regarding what is in Khaybar. I said: Even regarding what is in Fadak? He said: Even regarding what is in Fadak. Then I said: By Allah! Even if you were to saw through our necks with saws, this will not happen.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Musa bin Ja'far bin Ibrahim, and he is da'if (weak).
Sayyidah Juwayriyah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, he left behind as his estate only a white mule, his weapons, and a piece of land which he had made a charity.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain is hasan (good).
Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "We (that is, the prophets (peace be upon them)) are not inherited from; whatever we leave behind is charity."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, al-Fayd bin Wathiq, and he is a kadhdhab (liar).
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Our inheritance (that is, that of the prophets (peace be upon them)) is not passed on; whatever we leave behind is charity."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Isma'il bin Amr al-Bajali, whom Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy) and others declared da'if (weak); the remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).
