Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and I went to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). We said: What do you say about what the Messenger of Allah left behind? He said: Because of our relationship with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we have more right than the people. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I said: Even regarding what is in Khaybar? Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Even regarding what is in Khaybar. I said: Even regarding what is in Fadak? He said: Even regarding what is in Fadak. Then I said: By Allah! Even if you were to saw through our necks with saws, this will not happen.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Musa bin Ja'far bin Ibrahim, and he is da'if (weak).
