The universality of the mission of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been given five distinctions: I have been sent to every red and black (that is, fair-skinned and dark-skinned) person; the whole earth has been made for me a means of purification and a place of prayer; the spoils of war have been made lawful for me, which were not lawful for those before me; I have been helped by awe (cast into the enemy) from a distance of a month; and I have been given the intercession. Every prophet asked for his intercession, and I have kept my intercession (supplication) in reserve, and I will keep it for whoever (that is, every individual) of my Ummah dies in a state in which he does not associate anything with Allah."
Imam Ahmad recorded it both muttasil (connected) and mursal, and al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been given five things that were not given to any prophet before me, and I do not say this out of pride: I have been sent to every fair-skinned and every dark-skinned person; I have been helped by awe (cast into the enemy) from a distance of a month; the spoils of war have been made lawful for me, which were not made lawful for anyone before me; the earth has been made for me a place of prayer and a means of purification; and I have been given the intercession, which I have deferred for my Ummah, and it will be for every person who dies in a state in which he does not associate anything with Allah."

In one narration the wording is: "Every fair-skinned or dark-skinned person who enters my Ummah will be counted among them."
Imam Ahmad and al-Bazzar recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded something similar, except that he narrated these words: "So much so that the enemy feels fear of me from a distance of a month or two months (the narrator is in doubt), and it was said to me: Ask and you will be given, so I kept my supplication in reserve as intercession for my Ummah." Imam Ahmad's narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Yazid bin Abi Ziyad, and he is hasan al-hadith (good in hadith).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been given five distinctions that were not given to the other prophets before me: the whole earth has been made for me a means of purification and a place of prayer. This was not so for the earlier prophets; they could only pray when they reached their mihrab (that is, the designated place of prayer). I have been helped by awe: the polytheists may be at a distance of a month, and Allah Almighty casts awe of me into their hearts. Every prophet was sent to his own particular people, and I have been sent to all the jinn and mankind. The earlier prophets used to set aside the khumus (one-fifth of the spoils), and a fire would come and consume it, while I have been commanded to distribute it among the poor of my Ummah. Every prophet was given an intercession, and I have deferred (or kept in reserve) my intercession for my Ummah."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its chain contains narrators whom I do not know.

Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I have been given five things that were not given to any prophet before me: I have been helped by awe, I have been given comprehensive words (jawami' al-kalim), and the spoils of war have been made lawful for me." The narrator says: My teacher also mentioned two more distinctions which I have forgotten. The narrator says: After that he mentioned the full hadith.
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqil, and he is hasan al-hadith (good in hadith). (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Some hadiths on this have already passed in the chapter on tayammum, and the rest will come in the chapter on the Khasa'is (special distinctions).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was helped against the enemy by awe from a distance of two months.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Isma'il bin Ibrahim bin Muhajir, and he is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I have been given five things that were not given to anyone before me: the whole earth has been made for me a means of purification and a place of prayer; the spoils of war have been made lawful for me, which were not lawful for any prophet before me; I have been helped against my enemy by awe from a distance of a month; I have been sent to every fair-skinned and dark-skinned person; and I have been given the intercession, and it will reach every individual of my Ummah who does not associate anything with Allah." In one narration the wording is: "Whoever dies in a state in which he does not associate anything with Allah." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Imam Abu Dawud has recorded a part of this narration.
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Some hadiths of this kind have already passed in the chapter on tayammum.

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I have been given superiority through four things: the earth has been made for my Ummah a place of prayer and a means of purification; I have been sent to all people; I have been helped by awe from a distance of a month, which goes ahead of me; and the spoils of war have been made lawful for my Ummah."

In one narration the wording is: "Wherever the time of prayer finds any individual of my Ummah, there is his place of prayer and there is his means of purification." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Imam al-Tirmidhi has recorded a part of it.
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded something similar, except that he narrated these words: "I have been sent to every fair-skinned and dark-skinned person." Imam Ahmad's narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been given five distinctions that were not given to any prophet before me: I have been sent to all people, every fair-skinned and dark-skinned person, whereas every other prophet was sent to his own particular town; I have been helped by awe: my enemy is struck with awe of me from a distance of a month; I have been given the spoils of war; the earth has been made for me a place of prayer and a means of purification; and I have been given the intercession, which I have deferred (or kept in reserve) for my Ummah."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Isma'il bin Yahya bin Kuhayl, and he is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been given superiority over the other prophets in five respects: I have been sent to all people; I have kept my intercession in reserve for my Ummah; I have been helped by awe from a distance of a month ahead of me and a month behind me; the earth has been made for me a place of prayer and a means of purification; and the spoils of war have been made lawful for me, which were not lawful for anyone before me."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Ishaq bin Abdullah bin Abi Farwah, and he is matruk (abandoned).
