Marthad bin Abdullah al-Yazani reports the statement of a Companion: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the one who kills and the one who orders the killing, and he said: "The Fire will be divided into seventy parts: the one who gave the order will receive sixty-nine parts and the killer will receive one part, and that will be sufficient for him."
Ahmad recorded this narration, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Muhammad bin Ishaq, who is thiqah (trustworthy) but is a mudallis.

Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection the killer and the slain will be brought, and the slain will submit: 'O my Lord! Ask him why he killed me.' The killer will say: 'O my Lord! That (so-and-so) person ordered me to do it.' Then the hands of both of them will be seized and they will be thrown into Hell."

Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The slain man will sit on the road, and when the killer passes by him, the slain man will seize him and submit: 'O my Lord! This man brought an end to my prayer and my fasting.'" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then the killer and the one who ordered the killing will be punished."
Al-Tabarani recorded this narration; its chain contains Shahr bin Hawshab, who has been declared thiqah (trustworthy), and there is weakness in him. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Further on will come the hadiths stating that reviling a Muslim is sinful disobedience and fighting him is disbelief; these (narrations) will come in the Book of Manners.
