Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: (Allah Almighty says:) "And when We directed to you a group of the jinn, listening attentively to the Qur'an." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: They were nine jinn from the people of Nasibin, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made them messengers to their people.
Al-Tabarani recorded it.

In al-Mu'jam al-Awsat it is reported from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: The jinn were directed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) twice, and the nobles of the jinn lived in Nasibin.

In Musnad al-Bazzar it is reported from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): The nobles of the jinn were in Mosul. As for al-Tabarani's chain in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, it contains al-Nadr Abu Umar, who is matruk (abandoned); one of the two chains of al-Mu'jam al-Awsat contains Jabir al-Ju'fi, who is da'if (weak); and the other chain, as well as al-Bazzar's chain, both contain Ufayr bin Ma'dan, who is matruk (abandoned).

Zirr bin Hubaysh narrates: (Allah Almighty says:) "When We directed to you a group of the jinn, they listened attentively to the Qur'an; when they arrived there, they said: 'Be silent!'" That is, they said: "Hush!" The narrator said: They were seven, one of whom was Zawba'ah.
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
