عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ لِيَزْدَادُوا إِيمَانًا مَعَ إِيمَانِهِمْ قَالَ : إِنَّ اللَّهَ بَعَثَ نَبِيَّهُ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - بِشَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، فَلَمَّا صَدَّقُوا زَادَهُمُ الْحَجَّ ، فَلَمَّا صَدَّقُوا زَادَهُمُ الْجِهَادَ ، ثُمَّ أَكْمَلَ لَهُمْ دِينَهُمْ فَقَالَ : الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ الْإِسْلَامَ دِينًا قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : فَأَوْثَقُ إِيمَانِ أَهْلِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ[ أَهْلُ ] الْأَرْضِ [ وَأَصْدَقُهُ وَأَكْمَلُهُ ] شَهَادَةُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، قِيلَ فِيهِ : ثِقَةٌ مَأْمُونٌ وَقَدْ ضُعِّفَ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates concerning this saying of Allah Almighty: (Allah Almighty says:) "So that they may increase in faith along with their faith." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Allah Almighty sent His Prophet with the testimony that there is no god but Allah. When the people affirmed it, Allah Almighty added the command of Hajj. When they affirmed that as well, Allah Almighty added the command of jihad for them. Then Allah Almighty completed their religion (its rulings) for them and said: "This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and approved Islam for you as religion." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: So the firmest, the truest and the most complete (act) of faith among the people of the earth and the people of the heavens is bearing witness that there is no god but Allah.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Abdullah bin Salih, about whom it has been said that he is thiqah (trustworthy) and ma'mun (reliable), though he has also been declared da'if (weak).
