Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 11345

Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I used to write (the Qur'an) for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I had placed my pen on my ear when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the command (to write the verse about the command) of jihad. Just then a blind man came and said: "What will become of me, when my sight has gone?" Then this verse was revealed concerning it: "There is no blame upon the blind."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Muhammad bin Jabir al-Suhaymi, who is da'if (weak), though his hadith is written down; the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
