Sayyiduna Kharashah bin al-Hurr (may Allah be pleased with him), who was one of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), reports this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "None of you should ever be present at the killing of anyone, for perhaps he is being killed wrongfully, and then the displeasure (of Allah) will reach (the one who was present) as well."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it, but (al-Tabarani) recorded these words: "It may be that someone is killed wrongfully, and then displeasure will descend upon those people, and it will strike him along with them (the one who was present there, even though he did not take part in the killing)." Its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah; his hadith is hasan (good), though there is weakness in him, and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "None of you should ever stand in a place where a man is being killed unjustly, for the curse descends upon those present there, since they did not defend him. And none of you should ever stand in a place where a man is being beaten unjustly, for the curse descends upon those present there when they did not defend him."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Asad bin Ata', about whom al-Azdi said: he is majhul (unknown); and it contains Mindal, whom Abu Hatim and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), while Ahmad and others declared him da'if (weak). The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
