It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever reviles the Prophets will be killed, and whoever reviles my Companions will be flogged."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. He narrated it from his teacher Ubaydullah bin Muhammad al-Umari, whom al-Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) accused of lying.

Ka'b bin Alqamah says: Sayyiduna Arafah bin al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) had the honour of being a Companion. He fought alongside Sayyiduna Ikrimah bin Abi Jahl (may Allah be pleased with him) against the apostates in Yemen. Once a Christian from Egypt named al-Mandaqun passed by him. He invited him to Islam, and that Christian, while mentioning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), insulted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). This matter was brought before Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) summoned them. Sayyiduna Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "We have already given these people a covenant." Sayyiduna Arafah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Allah forbid that this covenant and pledge should be for them to harm us concerning Allah and His Messenger! We gave them a covenant that we would leave them to themselves, that they may do what they see fit in their places of worship, that we would not burden them with anything beyond their capacity, that we would fight on their behalf, and that we would not interfere between them and their religious rulings; except that when they come to us, we will judge between them according to what Allah Almighty has revealed." Then Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "You have spoken the truth."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Abdullah bin Salih, the scribe of al-Layth; he has been declared trustworthy, and there is weakness in him. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

It is reported about Sayyiduna Umayr bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he had a sister. When he went out to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that woman began to harm him concerning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and to revile the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), for she was a polytheist. One day he took up a sword, then came to her, placed the sword upon her and killed her. Her sons stood up and began to shout. They said: "We know who killed her. Did our mother have to be killed, when there are these other people too whose fathers and mothers are polytheists (and none of them killed his relative)?" When Sayyiduna Umayr (may Allah be pleased with him) feared that they would kill someone other than her actual killer, Sayyiduna Umayr (may Allah be pleased with him) went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him about it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Did you kill your sister?" He said: "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Why?" He said: "She used to harm me concerning you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for that woman's sons and asked them, and they named someone other than the actual killer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed them about Sayyiduna Umayr (may Allah be pleased with him) and declared that woman's blood to be unavenged. Then that woman's sons said: "We hear and obey this ruling."
Al-Tabarani recorded it through two Tabi'in, one of whom is thiqah (trustworthy). The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
