Muhammad bin Ishaq, among the names of those who were martyred at the Battle of Hunayn, mentions Sayyiduna Ayman bin Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him).
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Among those who remained with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (and were martyred at the Battle of Hunayn) was Sayyiduna Ayman bin Umm Ayman (may Allah be pleased with him); (the narrator says:) he is Sayyiduna Ayman bin Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him). (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: this is written after the statement of Ibn Ishaq, the report that preceded it, and
this report is not part of what was heard directly. Its chain contains Ibn Ishaq, who is a mudallis.
Al-Tabarani says: Sayyiduna Ayman bin Umm Ayman (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred on the occasion of Hunayn. He is Ayman bin Ubayd, who belongs to the Banu Awf bin al-Khazraj, and he is the half-brother, through the mother, of Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with them both).
Urwah narrates: On the day of Hunayn, among the Muslims, from Quraysh, from the branch of Banu Asad bin Abd al-Uzza, Sayyiduna Zayd bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred. Besides him, from Quraysh, from the branch of Banu Asad bin Abd al-Uzza, Sayyiduna Zayd bin Zam'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred. Al-Tabarani said: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated it like this, and this is an error. I say: the correct view is that he is Yazid, as will come
later in the report from al-Zuhri. From the Ansar, from the branch of Banu Amr bin Awf, from the branch of Banu al-Ajlan, Sayyiduna Suraqah bin al-Hubab (may Allah be pleased with him) is among those who were martyred. Al-Tabarani recorded all of these reports; its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah, in whom there is weakness, and his hadith is hasan (good).
Ibn Shihab, in naming those who were martyred alongside the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (at the Battle of Hunayn), mentioned: from the Ansar, from the branch of Banu al-Ajlan, Sayyiduna Murrah bin Suraqah bin al-Hubab. Ibn Shihab mentioned it like this. At the Battle of Hunayn, from Quraysh, from the branch of Banu Asad, Sayyiduna Yazid bin Zam'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) was also martyred. The narrators of both of them up to al-Zuhri are the narrators of the Sahih.
Ibn Ishaq, in naming those who were martyred while taking part alongside the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (at the Battle of Hunayn), mentioned, from Quraysh, from the branch of Banu Asad, Sayyiduna Yazid bin Zam'ah bin al-Aswad bin al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him). A horse named al-Janah threw him, and because of that he was martyred. Among those martyred at the Battle of Hunayn while taking part alongside the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is, from the Ansar, Sayyiduna Suraqah bin al-Hubab bin Adi bin al-Najjar (may Allah be pleased with him). The narrators of the chain of both reports up to Ibn Ishaq are thiqat (trustworthy).
