Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been helped by means of the "saba" (a particular kind of wind, the east wind), and the people of Ad were destroyed by means of the "dabur" (a particular kind of gale, the west wind)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I was helped by means of the "saba" (wind), and the people of Ad were destroyed by means of the "dabur" (gale)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat with two chains; the narrators of one of them are thiqat (trustworthy).
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been given five things which were not given to any prophet before me: I was sent to every red and black person (that is, to every kind of person, or to all of mankind), whereas before, every prophet was sent to his own particular people; I was helped by awe from a month's journey away; and I was permitted to use the spoils of war, although no one before me was permitted to use them." After this, the narrator mentioned the complete hadith; other hadiths of this kind will come in the chapter on "the signs of prophethood".
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Atiyyah, who is da'if (weak).
Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Haydah al-Qushayri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When I was brought to him, he said: "I have asked Allah to suffice me against you by means of a drought that would wear you out, and by means of awe that He would place in your hearts." The narrator says: He gestured with both his hands together and said: "I had sworn this many and this many times that I would neither believe in you nor follow you. Since then the drought has kept wearing me out and the awe has kept growing in my heart, until I have come and stood before you." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
Al-Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) and others recorded it, but they did not mention the awe and the drought.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain is hasan (good).
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: On the night of the Battle of the Confederates, the "saba" (wind) came to the "shamal" (north wind) and said: "Come along, so that we may help the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)!" The "shamal" wind said: "A free woman does not travel by night." So the wind by which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was helped was the "saba".
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
