Sayyiduna Ziyad bin Jahwar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A letter came to me from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), in which was written: "Seeking blessing through the name of Allah Almighty, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This is from Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), to Ziyad bin Jahwar. May you be safe; peace be upon you. I praise before you Allah, besides whom there is none worthy of worship; He alone is worthy of worship. To proceed: I remind you of Allah and the Last Day. To proceed: every religion that people have adopted, other than Islam, has been brought down. Know this."
This narration has been recorded by Imam al-Tabarani in all three books, and its chain contains narrators whom I do not know.

Sayyiduna Tamim al-Dari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I have seen this in my own household: whoever among them accepted Islam was granted goodness, nobility and honour, and whoever among them remained a disbeliever met with humiliation, abasement and the jizyah.
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it. The narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih.
