Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best of your kohls is ithmid, which makes the hair grow and sharpens the eyesight."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hold fast to using ithmid, for it makes the hair grow, removes dirt (from the eye), and clears the eyesight."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Awn bin Muhammad bin al-Hanafiyyah, whom Ibn Abi Hatim mentioned; a group narrated from him and no one criticised him. The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you applies kohl, let him apply it an odd number of times; and when he uses stones (after relieving himself), let him use an odd number."
Ahmad recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Ibn Lahi'ah, whose hadith is hasan (good); the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).

Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and al-Bazzar also recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Uqbah bin Ali, and he is da'if (weak).
