Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed me to bring him a mudyah. The narrator says: This means a knife. I brought it to him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent it off to be sharpened, then gave it to me and said: "Bring it to me tomorrow morning." I did so. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went out with his Companions to the markets of Madinah, in which there were waterskins of wine that had been brought from Syria. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the knife from me and began slitting the waterskins in his presence. Then he gave the knife to me, and he ordered the Companions who were with him to go with me and help me in this. He ordered me to go to all the markets and slit every waterskin of wine I found. I did so, and I slit every waterskin I found in the market.

Hadith Takhrij «
In one narration it is reported: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went out to the Mirbad, and I went out with him. I was on his right. Meanwhile Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived, so I moved back for him; he came to the right of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I moved to the left of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived, so I moved back for him, and he went to the left of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the Mirbad, and there were some waterskins there containing wine. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for a knife from me. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: It was only on that day that I came to know the word mudyah (that it is used for a knife). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the order concerning the waterskins, and they were slit open. After this, the narrator mentioned the complete hadith. Ahmad recorded all these narrations with two chains: one chain contains a narrator, Abu Bakr bin Abi Maryam, whose memory became confused (ikhtilat), and the other chain contains a narrator, Abu Tu'mah, whom Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Ammar al-Mawsili declared thiqah (trustworthy) and Makhul declared da'if (weak). The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the day of the Conquest of Makkah came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) poured out the wine and had its jars broken. Ahmad recorded it in this way. Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, but with these words: "He had its jars broken." The chain of this report contains a narrator, Ibn Lahi'ah, whose hadith is hasan (good). The remaining narrators of Ahmad are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man from the tribe of Thaqif presented the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a waterskin of wine. This was after the command forbidding wine had been revealed. On the order of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the waterskin was slit open. After this, the narrator mentioned the complete hadith. It has already appeared in the chapter on the price of wine, within the chapter on buying and selling.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat from al-Miqdam bin Dawud, who is da'if (weak).
