Abu Salih states: Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Ask me, for you will not ask anyone like me; you will not ask anyone like me." Ibn al-Kawwa' said: "Tell us about two sisters who are both slave women, and tell us about the daughter of a foster brother (whether marriage or intimacy with them is permitted)." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Ask me about what concerns you; you are wandering into bewildering matters." He said: "I am asking you about what I do not know; as for what I know, I am not asking about it." So Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "As for the two sisters who are slave women (whether their master may have intimacy with both of them), one verse makes them both lawful and one verse makes them both unlawful. I will neither command it nor forbid it; I myself will not do it, nor will anyone of my household do it." After this the narrator mentioned the complete hadith.
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih; al-Bazzar
recorded this narration in a similar form.

Qatadah states: A man asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) about combining two sisters, (saying) that Allah Almighty has made lawful for me what my right hand possesses. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Your camel is also among what your right hand possesses (that is, would you then commit a sexual act with it?)." Its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, but Qatadah did not live in the time of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).

Qatadah states: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Allah Almighty has made twelve women unlawful, and I consider (a further) twelve women disliked: a slave woman and her mother; two (slave) sisters, combining them both (in intimacy); a slave woman with whom your father has had intimacy; a slave woman with whom your son has had intimacy; a slave woman who has committed fornication; a slave woman who is observing the waiting period of someone other than you; a slave woman who has a husband; your idolatrous slave woman; and your paternal aunt and maternal aunt through fosterage.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except that Qatadah did not live in the time of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). It has already been mentioned in the chapter on freeing slaves, concerning which slaves (and slave women) it is disliked to keep, that Magian women were forbidden.
