Abu Salih states: Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Ask me, for you will not ask anyone like me; you will not ask anyone like me." Ibn al-Kawwa' said: "Tell us about two sisters who are both slave women, and tell us about the daughter of a foster brother (whether marriage or intimacy with them is permitted)." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Ask me about what concerns you; you are wandering into bewildering matters." He said: "I am asking you about what I do not know; as for what I know, I am not asking about it." So Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "As for the two sisters who are slave women (whether their master may have intimacy with both of them), one verse makes them both lawful and one verse makes them both unlawful. I will neither command it nor forbid it; I myself will not do it, nor will anyone of my household do it." After this the narrator mentioned the complete hadith.
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih; al-Bazzar
recorded this narration in a similar form.
