Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned that his sister had vowed to walk on foot to the House (the Ka'bah). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tell your sister to ride and to take a sacrificial animal (badanah)." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Imam Abu Dawud recorded this narration, but without the words: "a sacrificial animal."
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyidah Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "My sister has vowed that she will walk on foot to the House (the Ka'bah)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tell your sister to ride, for Allah Almighty has no need of your sister tormenting herself."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin Kathir al-Kufi, whom Imam Ahmad, Imam al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) and Ali bin al-Madini declared da'if (weak), while Yahya bin Ma'in declared him trustworthy.

Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: Whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood among us to deliver a sermon, he commanded us to give charity and forbade us from mutilation (muthlah). On one occasion he said: "Part of mutilation is that a man vows to pierce his nose. Beware! Part of mutilation is that a man vows that he will go for Hajj walking on foot. (In such a case) let him take a sacrificial animal and ride." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Imam Abu Dawud recorded this narration in abridged form, mentioning the piercing of the nose and walking on foot.
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Bazzar recorded something similar, and Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; the narrators of Imam Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih. The wording of Imam al-Tabarani is: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade mutilation, and he said: "Part of mutilation is that a man swears that he will go for Hajj tied with a rope or walking on foot; and whoever swears an oath about any such thing should give expiation for his oath and then ride."

Sayyiduna Bishr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that he accepted Islam, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned his wealth and his children to him. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) met him and saw him and his son tied together with a rope. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "O Bishr! What is the matter here?" He said: "I swore that if Allah Almighty returned my wealth and my children to me, I would go for Hajj to the House of Allah tied with a rope." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of the rope and cut it, and said to them both: "Both of you go for Hajj! This thing is from Shaytan."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator whom I do not know.
