Sayyiduna Bishr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that he accepted Islam, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned his wealth and his children to him. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) met him and saw him and his son tied together with a rope. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "O Bishr! What is the matter here?" He said: "I swore that if Allah Almighty returned my wealth and my children to me, I would go for Hajj to the House of Allah tied with a rope." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of the rope and cut it, and said to them both: "Both of you go for Hajj! This thing is from Shaytan."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator whom I do not know.
