Sayyiduna Abu Humayd al-Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "It is not permissible for a Muslim to take the property of his brother without right; the reason for this is that Allah Almighty has made the property of a Muslim forbidden to another Muslim."

Sayyiduna Amr bin Yathribi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed us in a sermon and said: "Beware! Nothing of his brother's property is lawful for a person, except what is given with his consent." I said: "O Messenger of Allah! What is your view: if I see my cousin's goats, may I take one goat from them (to slaughter)?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you come upon it as a ewe carrying a knife and fire-flints at Khabt al-Jamish, even then do not touch it!" The narrator says: Khabt al-Jamish refers to a place between Makkah and al-Jar where there are no people. In his (Ahmad's) version it is "bi-janb" like this; he did not say "bi-khabt".

In one report it is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Yathribi (may Allah be pleased with him); he narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delivering a sermon at Mina, and in the sermon he said: "Nothing of his brother's property is lawful for a Muslim, except what he gives willingly." The narrator says: When I heard this, I said: "O Messenger of Allah! If I come upon my cousin's goats" - after this the narrator mentioned the hadith as before.
Ahmad recorded it, and his son in his "Ziyadat" (additions) as well, and al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. He reported the word "khabt", which is correct. The narrators of Ahmad are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The life, honour and property of a Muslim are inviolable for another Muslim. A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim; he does not wrong him and he does not forsake him. Taqwa (God-consciousness) is here." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this while pointing with his hand towards the heart.
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The sanctity of a Muslim's property is like the sanctity of his blood."
Al-Bazzar and Abu Ya'la recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin Dinar, whom Ibn Hibban and a group declared thiqah (trustworthy), while a group declared him da'if (weak). The remaining narrators of Abu Ya'la are thiqat (trustworthy); however, he recorded it within a hadith: "Abusing a Muslim is wickedness, and fighting him is disbelief." Among the narrators of al-Bazzar is Amr bin Uthman al-Kilabi, whom Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy), while al-Azdi says: he is matruk (abandoned).

Talib bin Sulma bin Asim bin al-Hakam narrates: One of my family told me that my grandfather had told them that he was present at a sermon of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Beware! Your wealth and your lives are inviolable to one another, just as this city is inviolable on this day. Beware! Let me not find you in a state where you turn back into disbelievers after me, striking one another's necks. Beware! Let the one of you who is present convey it to the one who is absent. I do not know; perhaps after this day I will not meet you again. O Allah, be witness over them! O Allah, have I conveyed (the message)?"
Abu Ya'la recorded it. I have not found anyone who has given the biographies of the narrator named Talib and his teacher. Other hadiths of this kind will come later in the chapter on tribulations and in other chapters, if Allah wills.

Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "None of you should take his companion's belongings, whether in jest or in earnest; and when one of you has taken something of his companion's, he must return it to him." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
This report is recorded in the "Sunan" as a narration of al-Sa'ib from his father.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir as his (al-Sa'ib's) own narration, that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say it. Its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Yazid bin al-Sa'ib, whose biography I have not found anyone giving, and its remaining narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
