Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not take one dinar in exchange for two dinars, do not take one dirham in exchange for two dirhams, and do not take one sa' in exchange for two sa's; I fear usury (riba) for you. This is usury, it is usury. A man said: O Messenger of Allah! What is your view of a man who sells one horse in exchange for several horses, or sells a fine she-camel in exchange for a camel? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no harm in that, provided the exchange is hand to hand.
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator Abu Janab al-Kalbi, who is a mudallis and thiqah (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna al-Sunabihi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw an aged she-camel among the camels of sadaqah, and he became angry and said: Where has this come from? That man said: O Messenger of Allah! I took it in exchange for two camels from the hawashi (lesser animals) of the sadaqah. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent.
Ahmad and Abu Ya'la recorded it, except that he recorded it thus: It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Sunabihi al-Ahmasi (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: O Messenger of Allah! I took it in exchange for two camels from the hawashi (lesser animals) of the camels. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then it is fine. Its chain contains a narrator Mujalid bin Sa'd, who is da'if (weak), and according to one report al-Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) declared him trustworthy.

Sayyiduna Aswad bin Asram (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he came to Madinah with a fat, healthy camel at a time of famine and drought. When the people of Madinah saw it, they admired the camel's health. The narrator says: His camel was mentioned before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent word to him, and they were brought to him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out, examined them and said: Why have you brought this camel of yours? He said: I want to get a servant in exchange for it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Who has a servant? Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! I have one. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Bring her. Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) brought her. When Aswad saw that slave woman, he said: This is just the kind I wanted. Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: She is mine; take her. So Sayyiduna Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) took her, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took his camel. Sayyiduna Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah, give me some counsel. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Keep control of your tongue. He said: If I cannot control it, then on what shall I keep firm? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Keep control of your hand. He said: If I cannot control even my hand, then what shall I control? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Speak only good with your tongue, and extend your hand only towards good deeds. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: This narration will come with another chain in the chapter concerning silence.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator Abd al-Rahman bin Bukht; I have not found anyone who has written his biography, and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Abyad bin Hammal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he accepted Islam while owning three brothers from Kindah; those three brothers had been his slaves in the Age of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah). He came as a delegate to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) during his caliphate, and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) asked Sayyiduna Abyad bin Hammal (may Allah be pleased with him) to free the slave who served him, and that he would buy that slave's brothers from him in exchange for six slaves from among the captives of Qadisiyyah. So Sayyiduna Abyad bin Hammal (may Allah be pleased with him) did so: he freed the brothers who were with him, and in place of those brothers he took six slaves from among the captives of Qadisiyyah. Then Sayyiduna Abyad bin Hammal (may Allah be pleased with him) told Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he had come regarding the officials who had committed injustice after the passing of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), concerning the matter in which Sayyiduna Abyad bin Hammal (may Allah be pleased with him) had agreed with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the payment of seventy hullahs (garments). So Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) upheld the arrangement on which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had kept them, until Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away; after that, the arrangement was annulled again, and it was counted as sadaqah. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The part about the agreement on hullahs has been narrated by Abu Dawud.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its chain is hasan (good).

This was in the Age of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah). (The narrator says:) My uncle came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and spoke with him about his son. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: Try as far as you can to obtain your son. That man went, took his son and brought him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The master of that boy also came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered his master two slaves and said: Take one of these two and leave this man's son. So that man took one slave and left the other.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and
