Qurrah bin Iyas narrates: A man said: O Messenger of Allah! I set about slaughtering a goat, but I feel mercy for it (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) I feel mercy for the goat when it comes to slaughtering it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you show mercy to the goat, Allah Almighty will show mercy to you; if you show mercy to the goat, Allah Almighty will show mercy to you."
Ahmad, al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Saghir recorded it, and these scholars recorded it without any doubt.
They state that the man said: O Messenger of Allah! I set about slaughtering a goat, and then I feel mercy for it. This report has various wordings, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
