عَنْ بِلَالٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَفْطَرَ الْحَاجِمُ وَالْمَحْجُومُ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالْبَزَّارُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَشَهْرٌ لَمْ يَلْقَ بِلَالًا .

Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The fast of the one who cups and the one who is cupped is broken."

Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The fast of the one who cups and the one who is cupped is broken."

وَعَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى أَبِي مُوسَى ، وَهُوَ يَحْتَجِمُ لَيْلًا فَقَالَ : لَوْ كَانَ نَهَارًا ؟ فَقَالَ : تَأْمُرُنِي أَنْ أُهْرِيقَ دَمِي وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ ، وَقَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَفْطَرَ الْحَاجِمُ وَالْمَحْجُومُ " .

It is reported about Sayyiduna Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to Sayyiduna Abu Musa, who was being cupped at night. Sayyiduna Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Had you had it done in the daytime, it would have been appropriate." Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Are you telling me to shed my blood in the daytime while I am fasting, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has said: 'The fast of the one who cups and the one who is cupped is broken'?"

Then he gave him the order at the time the fasting person breaks his fast, and he cupped him. Then he asked him: "How much is your levy (kharaj)?" He replied: "Two sa'." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remitted one sa'.

He fainted, and that is why cupping was disliked for the fasting person. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: There is a hadith from him in the Sahih that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had himself cupped while he was fasting and in the state of ihram; in that narration he did not mention its being disliked.
