Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik says: A man would come to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and accept Islam only for some worldly benefit; that was his only reason for accepting Islam. But before evening came, Islam would have become dearer to him than the world and everything in it.
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

In one narration the words are: "A man would ask the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for something of the world and would accept Islam because of it." After this the narrator related the narration as before.
