Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Put the wealth of orphans to use in trade, lest zakah consume it (that is, use it up)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) My master and my teacher informed me that its chain is sahih (authentic).

It is reported about Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was asked about the wealth of orphans, and he said: "When they reach maturity, inform them how much zakah has become due on it; if they wish, they may pay the zakah, and if they do not wish, they need not pay it."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. The narrator Mujahid did not hear from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The guardian of an orphan will keep count of the years; when the orphan reaches maturity, the guardian will tell him: "Zakah for such-and-such a number of years is due from you."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; the narrator Mujahid did not live in the time of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
