وَعَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ : وَلِيُّ الْيَتِيمِ يُحْصِي السِّنِينَ ، فَإِذَا احْتَلَمَ قَالَ : إِنَّ عَلَيْكَ كَذَا وَكَذَا سَنَةً .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ . وَمُجَاهِدٌ لَمْ يُدْرِكِ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The guardian of an orphan will keep count of the years; when the orphan reaches maturity, the guardian will tell him: "Zakah for such-and-such a number of years is due from you."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; the narrator Mujahid did not live in the time of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
