One who loses two children

Sayyiduna Abu Tha'labah al-Ashja'i (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I said: "O Messenger of Allah! Two of my children have died in Islam." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever has two children die in Islam, Allah Almighty will admit him into Paradise by the grace of His mercy towards those two children." The narrator says: After that I met Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he asked: "Are you the one to whom the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said what he said about two children?" I replied: "Yes." He said: "Had the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this about me, it would have been dearer to me than everything that the gates of Hims and Palestine are closed upon (that is, all the goods within those cities)."
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever has three children die, and hopes for reward for them, will enter Paradise." The narrator says: We said: "O Messenger of Allah! And if there are two?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And if there are two (the same reward will be attained)." The narrator named Mahmud says: I said to Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): "I think that if you had said, 'And if there is one?', the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would also have said, 'And if there is one (this reward will be attained too).'" Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "By Allah, I think so too."
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one with three makes (Paradise) due." Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: "And the one with two?" He said: "And the one with two."
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, though he recorded these additional words: "And the one with one?" He said: "And the one with one."
This report will come later in the next chapter, if Allah wills. Its chain contains a narrator, Abu Ramlah; I have not seen anyone declare him trustworthy or criticise him.

Sayyiduna al-Harith bin Uqaysh (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any two Muslims (husband and wife) whose four children die, Allah Almighty will admit them both (husband and wife) into Paradise by the grace of His mercy." The people said: "O Messenger of Allah! And if there are three?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And if three (have died, this reward will be attained too)." The people said: "And if there are two?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And if there are two (the same reward will be attained)."
Abdullah bin Ahmad, Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and Imam Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna al-Harith bin Uqaysh (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were with Sayyiduna Abu Barzah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he narrated to us this hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said: "Any two Muslims (husband and wife) whose four children die, Allah Almighty will admit them both (husband and wife) into Paradise by the grace of His mercy." The people said: "O Messenger of Allah! And if there are three?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And if three (children have died, the same reward will be attained)." The people said: "And if there are two?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And if there are two (the same reward will be attained)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man of my Ummah will be so huge in Hell that he will fill one of its corners, and there will be a man of my Ummah through whose intercession (as many people as the members of) the tribe of Mudar will enter Paradise."
Imam Ahmad recorded it as a hadith narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Barzah (may Allah be pleased with him), and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyidah Umm Sulaym bint Milhan (may Allah be pleased with her), the mother of Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any (husband and wife) whose three children die before reaching puberty, Allah Almighty will admit them both (husband and wife) into Paradise by the grace of His mercy." He said this three times. I said: "O Messenger of Allah! And if there are two?" He said: "And if there are two (the same reward will be attained)."
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Amr bin Asim al-Ansari; I have not seen anyone declare him trustworthy or criticise him, and its remaining narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when he received the news that a son of a woman from the Ansar had died and she was grieving over him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) got up, and his Companions were with him. When he reached the woman's door, the woman was told that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was coming to offer condolences. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the house and said: "I have learned that you are grieving over your son." The woman said: "O Prophet of Allah! Why should I not grieve, when I am a raqub (a woman whose children do not survive), no child of mine lives?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The raqub is only she whose child lives. Any Muslim woman or Muslim man who has one child die (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are: three of his children die) and hopes for reward for them, Paradise becomes due for him." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), who was on the right of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at that time, said: "May my father and mother be sacrificed for you! And if two (children have died)?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And if two (the same reward will be attained)."
Imam al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Zuhayr bin Abi Alqamah narrates: A woman from the Ansar came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), bringing her son with her. She said: "O Messenger of Allah! Besides this child, two of my sons have died." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have obtained a strong barrier of protection against Hell."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abu Tha'labah al-Khushani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Two of my children died, so I said: "O Messenger of Allah! Two of my children have died." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever has two children who die, Allah Almighty will admit that person to Paradise by the grace of His mercy towards them (the children)." The narrator says: Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) met me and asked: "Are you the one to whom the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated the hadith about two children?" I said: "Yes." He said: "That you narrate this hadith to me yourself is dearer to me than everything upon which the gates of Palestine are closed (that is, all the wealth and goods found in that land)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and he distinguished between the two, stating that the Ashja'i mentioned earlier is someone other than him; and Allah knows best. Its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that she heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever's child dies and he is patient and hopes for the reward, those children will, by Allah's leave, shield him from the Fire."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Abu Yahya al-Taymi, who is da'if (weak). Ibn Adi said: "Hasan (good) hadiths are reported from him." The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyidah Umm Mubashshir (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "O Umm Mubashshir, whoever has three children who die, Allah Almighty will admit that person to Paradise by the grace of His mercy towards those children." Sayyidah Umm Mubashshir (may Allah be pleased with her) was cooking something at the time. She said: "And if there are two?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Even if there are two (the same reward will be attained)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains al-Muthanna bin al-Sabbah, who is da'if (weak).
