Sayyiduna Abu Arwa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I used to offer the Asr prayer behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in Madinah, then I would reach Dhu al-Hulayfah before the sun set, and that place is at a distance of two farsakhs.
Al-Bazzar recorded it; Ahmad recorded it in abridged form; and al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, Salih bin Muhammad Abu Waqid, whom Ahmad declared thiqah (trustworthy), while Yahya bin Ma'in, al-Daraqutni (may Allah have mercy on him) and a group declared him da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to order that the Asr prayer be offered late.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and Ahmad recorded a similar report in which the whole incident is mentioned. He did not name the Tabi'i of this report, while al-Tabarani named him Abdullah bin Rafi'. Its chain contains a narrator, Abdul Wahid bin Nafi' al-Kala'i, whom Ibn Hibban mentioned in the book "al-Thiqat", and he also mentioned this narrator in the book "al-Du'afa'". And Allah knows best.

Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy.

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The two men of the Ansar whose homes were farthest from the mosque of the Messenger of Allah were Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah bin Abdul Mundhir (may Allah be pleased with him), who was from Quba', and Sayyiduna Abu Abs bin Jabr (may Allah be pleased with him), whose residence was in the quarter of Banu Harithah. Yet both of them would offer the Asr prayer behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then return to their people, and those people would not yet have prayed. The reason was that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would offer the Asr prayer early. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: A hadith narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) about offering the Asr prayer early is also recorded in the "Sahih", but it is other than this hadith.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. The narrators of al-Mu'jam al-Kabir are thiqat (trustworthy), except that the case of Ibn Ishaq is different: he is a mudallis (one who practises tadlis), and he narrated this report with 'an'anah.

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would offer the Asr prayer at such a time that, if a person went after it to the quarter of Banu Harithah bin al-Harith, he could also return from there before the sun set. I say: Discussion of this report has already passed.
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Abu Ya'la and al-Bazzar recorded this report on his authority: He narrates: I used to pray behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then I would come to my family and say to them: "Get up and offer the prayer! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has already prayed."
The narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This prayer (the narrator says: meaning the Asr prayer) was made obligatory upon those before you, but they neglected it. Whoever among you today guards it will be given its reward twice. And after it no (voluntary) prayer is to be offered until the 'shahid' is seen" (the narrator says: this means the star).
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, Ibn Ishaq, who is thiqah (trustworthy) but a mudallis (one who practises tadlis).

Abu Ayyub narrated this report on the authority of Abdullah, whom the narrator thought to be Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him). The narrator Shu'bah says: Sometimes he narrated it as a marfu' report (attributed to the Prophet), and sometimes he did not narrate it as marfu'. He says: "The time of the Asr prayer lasts as long as the time of Maghrib has not begun." After this the narrator mentioned the whole hadith.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Muhammad bin Abdul Rahman bin Nawfal bin Mu'awiyah narrates, on the authority of his father, this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "That a man's family and wealth be destroyed is better for him than that the time of his Asr prayer should be missed."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir.

Sayyiduna Abu Tarif (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); this was at the time when he (peace and blessings be upon him) had laid siege to Ta'if. He (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the Asr prayer at such a time that, if a person shot an arrow, he could see where his arrow landed. Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, but he recorded these words: "He (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the Asr prayer at that time", whereas the correct version is that he (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the Maghrib prayer at that time, as Ahmad recorded this report with these words of his: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in the Maghrib prayer."
This report will come later, if Allah wills. Its chain contains a narrator, al-Walid bin Abdullah bin Sumayrah; al-Tabarani said it this way, while Ahmad recorded the words: al-Walid bin Abdullah bin Abi Shumaylah. I have not found anyone who gives his biography. I say: He is al-Walid bin Abdullah bin Abi Sumayr, and according to one view he is called Ibn Sumayrah. Imam Ibn Hibban (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned him in the book "al-Thiqat".
