Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 9095

Sayyiduna Umar bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I command you with three things and I forbid you from three things. I command you not to associate anything with Allah, to hold fast all together to obedience until the command of Allah comes to you while you are in that state, and to be sincere towards the rulers, those who command you according to the command of Allah. And I forbid you from gossip ('it was said' and 'he said'), from asking many (needless) questions, and from wasting wealth."
Al-Tabarani recorded it from his teacher Bakr bin Sahl al-Dimyati. Al-Dhahabi says: "He is muqarib al-hal (passable)." Al-Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) declared him da'if (weak). The hadith of the remaining narrators of this report is hasan (good).
