Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: I have not seen a better people than the Companions of the Messenger of Allah. Until the passing away of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), they asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about only 13 things, all of which are mentioned in the Qur'an: "They ask you about the sacred month", "They ask you about wine and gambling", "They ask you about orphans", "They ask you about menstruation", "They ask you about the spoils of war (al-anfal)", "They ask you what they should spend". (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, says:) They used to ask only about what would benefit them. (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, says:) The first to perform tawaf around the Ka'bah were the angels, and between the Black Stone and the Yemeni Corner there are graves of some of the Prophets. When a Prophet was harmed by the people of his nation, he would leave from among them (and come to the Ka'bah) and worship Allah Almighty here until he died.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Ata' bin al-Sa'ib; he is thiqah (trustworthy), but he suffered from confusion (ikhtilat). The rest of the narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).
