Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As long as I leave you alone, you too should leave me (as I am). Those who were before you were destroyed by their disagreeing with their Prophets. When I give you a command, carry it out, and when I forbid you something, avoid it, as far as you are able." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: This narration is reported in the Sahih with the reverse of this (order of wording).
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
