بَابٌ فِيمَنْ تَصَرَّفَ فِي مَرَضِهِ بِأَكْثَرَ مِنَ الثُّلُثِ .

وَعَنِ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ : سُئِلَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ أَعْتَقَ عَبْدَهُ عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ وَلَيْسَ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرُهُ وَعَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ، فَقَالَ : يَسْعَى فِي قِيمَتِهِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ، وَالْقَاسِمُ لَمْ يُدْرِكِ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ .

Al-Qasim narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about a man who sets his slave free near death, while he has no wealth other than this slave and he also owes a debt. Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The slave will work to earn the amount of his value (and pay it)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and the narrator al-Qasim did not live in the time of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
