وَعَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " " سَيَكُونُ أَقْوَامٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي يَتَعَاطَوْنَ فِقْهًا وَهُوَ عَضَلُ الْمَسَائِلِ ، أُولَئِكَ شِرَارُ أُمَّتِي " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ يَزِيدُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Soon there will be people in my Ummah who will teach one another fiqh, and it will be nothing but the name of complicated questions; those people will be the worst of my Ummah."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Yazid bin Rabi'ah, and he is matruk (abandoned).
