Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was seated in a place where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to sit, a place by which funeral processions used to pass. The narrator says: People passed by with a funeral and praised (the deceased). Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "It has become due." Then people passed by with another funeral and said: "This man was the greatest liar." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The greatest liar among people is the one who attributes lies to Allah Almighty, and after them those who lie about the soul within their body (that is, who relate false dreams)." Then the narrator mentioned the full hadith.
Imam Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Umar bin al-Walid al-Shanni, whom Imam al-Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) and Yahya al-Qattan declared da'if (weak).
