Sayyiduna Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) has narrated from his father that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah Almighty have mercy on the person who hears my words and preserves them. Sometimes a person who learns something is not a scholar, and sometimes a person who learns something conveys it to someone who has more knowledge than himself. There are three things about which the heart of a believer does not harbour rancour: making one's deeds sincerely for Allah Almighty, sincere goodwill towards the Muslim rulers, and keeping to the community of the Muslims."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Muhammad bin Kathir al-Kufi, whom Imam al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) and others declared da'if (weak), while Yahya bin Ma'in considered him acceptable.
