وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَيُذْنِبُ ذَنْبًا فَإِذَا ذَكَرَهُ أَحْزَنَهُ مَا صَنَعَ ، فَإِذَا نَظَرَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِ أَحْزَنَهُ مَا صَنَعَ غَفَرَ لَهُ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ دَاوُدُ بْنُ الْمُحَبَّرِ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A servant commits a sin, then when he remembers it, what he did grieves him; when Allah Almighty sees from him that he is grieved by what he did, Allah Almighty forgives him."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Dawud bin al-Muhabbar, who is da'if (weak).
