Hadith 514

عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَامِعٌ ، وَعَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ ، سَمِعَا أَبَا وَائِلٍ ، يُخْبِرُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " مَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ لِيَقْتَطِعَ بِهَا مَالَ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ لَقِيَ اللَّهَ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِ غَضْبَانُ " ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَشْتَرُونَ بِعَهْدِ اللَّهِ وَأَيْمَانِهِمْ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلا سورة آل عمران آية 77 الآيَةَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “Whoever swears a false oath in order to unjustly take the wealth of a Muslim, will meet Allah while He is angry with him.” Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse of the Noble Qur’an: Surely those who barter Allah’s covenant and their oaths for a small price... [سورة آل عمران : 77]
