Hadith 513

عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " يَقْرَءُونَ الْوَصِيَّةَ قَبْلَ الدَّيْنِ ، وَقَضَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالدَّيْنِ قَبْلَ الْوَصِيَّةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the Noble Qur'an, the mention of bequest is read before debt, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) decreed the payment of debt before bequest.
