عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ عِيَاضٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهَا حَدَّثَتْهُ ، أَنَّ هِنْدَ أُمَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ جَاءَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ وَإِنَّهُ لا يُعْطِينِي مَا يَكْفِينِي وَوَلَدِي إِلا مَا أَخَذْتُ مِنْهُ سِرًّا وَهُوَ لا يَعْلَمُ فَهَلْ عَلَيَّ فِي ذَلِكَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ . فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَوَلَدَكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that Hind, the mother of Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with her), came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Abu Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) is a miserly man; he does not give enough for my expenses, except that I have to take from his wealth secretly, which he does not know about. Is there any sin in this matter?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take from his wealth in a reasonable manner, as much as is sufficient for you and your son."
