Hadith 378

عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ الْكَلْبِيِّ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " افْعَلُوا الْمَعْرُوفَ إِلَى مَنْ هُوَ أَهْلُهُ وَإِلَى مَنْ لَيْسَ بِأَهْلِهِ فَإِنْ أَصَبْتُمْ أَهْلَهُ فَقَدْ أَصَبْتُمْ أَهْلَهُ وَإِنْ لَمْ تُصِيبُوا أَهْلَهُ فَأَنْتُمْ أَهْلُهُ " .
Ja'far bin Muhammad (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do good to both those who deserve it and those who do not deserve it. If you do good to a deserving person, you have reached what is right, and if you do good to an undeserving person, then you yourself are worthy of doing good."
