Abu Najih al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at the fortress of Ta'if. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Whoever shoots an arrow that reaches its target will have a degree in Paradise." A man said: O Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! If I shoot an arrow on target, will I too have a degree in Paradise? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." So he shot and it reached (the target). He (Abu Najih) said: And that day I shot sixteen arrows that reached (the target). He said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever grows grey in the path of Allah, it will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever shoots an arrow in the path of Allah, that too will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever frees a Muslim man, Allah, the Lord of Might, will protect his whole body from the Fire of Hell in exchange for (the freed man's) bones; and whichever Muslim woman frees a Muslim woman, Allah, the Lord of Might, will free the woman who freed her from Hell in return."
