أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ عِيسَى الْحِيرِيُّ، ثنا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ قَطَنٍ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا جَرِيرٌ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ السِّمْطِ، قَالَ: قُلْنَا لِكَعْبِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ السُّلَمِيِّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: حَدِّثْنَا وَاحْذَرْ. قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ شَابَ شَيْبَةً فِي الْإِسْلَامِ كَانَتْ لَهُ نُورًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، وَمَنْ رَمَى بِسَهْمٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ كَانَ كَعِتْقِ رَقَبَةٍ ".
Shurahbil bin al-Simt said: We said to Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Murrah al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him): Narrate to us, and be careful. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever grows grey in Islam, it will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection; and whoever shoots an arrow in the path of Allah will have a reward equal to freeing a slave."
