Sayyiduna Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: My mother asked my father to gift me something from his wealth, and for a year he did not do it. Then my father gave it to me as a gift. My mother said: I will not be satisfied until you make the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) a witness to what you have gifted to my son. So my father took my hand, and I was a boy at that time, and he brought me to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), his mother is the daughter of Rawahah; for a year she has been quarrelling with me about gifting it to him. Now I have gifted it, and she would like you (peace and blessings be upon him) to be a witness to it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Bashir, do you have other children besides this one?" He said: Yes. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then do not make me a witness; I do not bear witness to injustice."
