(a) Yahya bin Bukayr narrates from al-Layth:
(b) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say in the year of the Conquest of Makkah: "Indeed, Allah Almighty and His Messenger have made unlawful the sale of wine, carrion, swine and idols." He (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: What is the ruling on the fat of carrion? Ships are coated with it, hides are treated with it, and people use it in their lamps. He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "That too is unlawful." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah Almighty destroy the Jews! When Allah made the fat unlawful for them, they melted it down, sold it and consumed its price."
