Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever buys a musarrah (an animal whose milk has been held back in its udder) has the option for three days; if he wants to return it, he may return it, and give a sa' of dates along with it."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Habban bin Munqidh was a weak man; he had the mark of a deep wound on his head. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He has the option for three days in whatever he buys." His tongue was also not sound. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sell, and say: There is no deception." I used to hear him saying: "No deception, no deception." He would buy something and bring it home, and his family would say: This is expensive. He would say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has given me the option in my sale.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I heard a man from the Ansar, who had an impediment in his speech, complain to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about being cheated in sales. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you transact, say: No deception. Then in whatever goods you buy, you have the option for three days; if you are pleased, keep it, and if you are displeased, return it." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Now I hear him — whenever he buys any goods, he says: "No deception." There was a stammer in his speech.
(b) Muhammad bin Ishaq (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I narrated this hadith to Muhammad bin Yahya bin Habban (may Allah have mercy on him), and he said: My grandfather was Munqidh bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him). He had suffered a head wound; his tongue was broken, a stammer came into his speech and his intellect was diminished. He used to be cheated in sales, yet he would not give up trading. He complained to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you sell goods, say: No deception. Then in every sale you make, you have the option for three nights; if you are pleased, keep it, and if you are displeased, return it."
He lived until the era of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), when he was 130 years old. People became numerous in the era of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). Whenever he bought something and came back with it, people would say to him: Why do you buy? Munqidh bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) would say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has given me an option of three days in whatever I buy. People would say: Return it, you have been cheated in the sale. So he would return the goods and say: Take your goods and give me back my dirhams. The seller would say: Take it away; you were satisfied with it. Then, when another Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by, he would say that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had given him an option of three days in whatever goods he buys. Then the seller would return his dirhams and take back his goods.

Talhah bin Yazid bin Rukanah spoke with Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) about sales, and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I do not find for you anything more spacious than what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted to Habban bin Munqidh." Since his eyesight was weak, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) fixed three days for him: "If he is pleased with the goods, he keeps them; otherwise he returns them."
(b) Habban bin Wasi' narrates from his father, from his grandfather, from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) in abridged form, and he did not mention the words "blind of sight" (darir al-basar).
Ibn Lahi'ah is alone in narrating this hadith, and Allah knows best.
